Where did all the honey bees go.

Hi Sean
I hear this quite a lot, but while I don't think there's any immediate cause for alarm I don't think we should be complacent. In most areas you will see bees on flowers when the flowers are producing pollen and nectar.
If there is a localized shortage of bees, possibly because of Colony Collapse Disorder, perhaps this should be taken as a cue that it's time you took up beekeeping.
If people take the time to look, and look at the flowers which will attract bees I think most times they will see bees. If the weather is too cool, or it's late in the day, of course there won't be many bees about.
