What to Do About Very Aggressive Bees
by: Ron Kelly

Great article on aggressive bees. Just a one question.

If one decides to relocate a super from the aggressive hive and one separates the super from the hive with a sheet of paper, how do the top bees leave the hive to forage?

[Hi Ron

Well spotted I missed a bit of my explantion.

This is a variation on a way of combining two small hives, in which you kill one queen and place one on top of the other with the sheet of newspaper between (make a few small holes with the corner of your hive tool). Over the next couple of days the bees chew through the newspaper, by the time they've removed the newspaper they're all one happy family. You'll often see newspaper dust at the front of the hive.

Moving supers from one hive to another works just the same. The super or supers are really just like a queenless hive.
