There is a show called Billy the Exterminator

There is a show called Billy the Exterminator - he is proud of poisoning bees. He opens the siding of homes so that he can take the comb out, then throws out the honey. This is celebrated on the show. He wears a death mask to do the poisoning.

Please tell them not to poison and to see the honey as a resource not to be wasted. Billy the Exterminator.

I think that a comment should be made to the network that distributes this show, the producer of the show, and anyone else involved; people who could be told that this is an environmental crime that encourages others to be insensitive to biodiversity, pollination, the "intricate, complicated energy dependent network that provides food to our nation", the needs of our earth. The poison (depending on what is used) can present problems for the people exposed to it, to other creatures, to nearby waters, to small children, pets, air quality, etc. There is way too much poison used for no good purpose, and for great potential harm.

Did you know that native bees are more than a thousand times more efficient than European honeybees (they go directly from flower to flower since they don't collect nectar for honey)? Native bees need native plants as habitats, some agricultural operations are leaving some natural habitat for the bees.

I would make the comments, but don't have a lot time to spend on this. Do you have a group of people who are interested in bees? If so, they might provide support to comment on this. These programs are educating people in getting rid of bees by using poison. He also gets rid of other animals by exterminating them; that is not a good message. The network might be willing to offer another side, another alternative to killing everything.

Comments might be seen or used as encouragement, but it is better to make an effort to educate than to let it go unremarked.

You're right Linda!

This type of thing sends entirely the wrong message to people who, frankly, just don't know any better. I was horrified with the debacle which occurred at the Padres' game last July. This seems almost worse since this guy revels in what he does.

If people feel strongly about this, and I think they should, post a comment here and contact the network directly. If anyone knows of a means to contact them please let me know and I'll post it here.
