The Tractor and the Bee Hive
by Kevin
(Fannin County, Texas)
I have an old hand crank Farmall Model A tractor with a belly mower, and was mowing the north pasture. I decided to make a swath between the fence and the hive.
First pass, no problem. The bees were not real happy as some of the debri hit the hive. As I made the second pass and hit the left brake to loop around the hive, the tractor died. Being a crank start, and with the bees on the warpath, and the fact that I was wearing shorts, I decided to bail and wait till things settled down before removing the tractor.
As I was running towards the house my wife took great joy in laughing at me as I hurried home. The lesson? No more hard turns around the hive.
Hi Kevin
I can sympathize, just last weekend I received a reminder that if you're going to wear shorts around bees, you must expect the occasional surprise when one flies up the leg of your shorts. Unfortunately mine did more than just fly :-(
Thanks
