Sitesell Online Businesses

Work from Home Online Business

Sitesell includes some of the top 10 online businesses are people who have created their own online home business with an online business website. Have you ever thought about working for yourself? Now Sitesell makes it really feasible to work from home using the internet.

When I first used the internet I hated it. Fifteen years on, I can't imagine how I ever lived without it. It's hard to believe now that I found it so confusing.

More recently I was a contract programmer/analyst working for a company doing something I barely understood and cared about even less. Then the contract ended and I thought, "Okay what now?"

I love being at home and doing stuff around the house, I've always wanted to work from home. The kitchen needed to be refurbished so I spent several months stripping out the old cabinets, build IKEA cabinets and installing them, along with the associated plumbing and electrical work.

Just as an aside I'd like to mention that IKEA were great. We had a problem with the granite counter top. After it was made and installed we realized the granite was not the color we had chosen. After considerable discussion IKEA stepped up to the plate and refunded half the cost of the granite (almost $2,000) and took up the cudgels on our behalf with the sub-contractor who had installed the counter.

Then the bee season was upon us and I started getting calls from people who wanted swarms removed. I put up a website with the domain name SanDiegoBees.com and used Google Adwords to drive traffic to it. I was inundated with calls and kept busy the whole summer.

This is the original San Diego Bees website, now part of this site.

When the main swarm season came to an end I thought, "Phew! Breathing space." My first task was to smarten up my website ready for next year in the hope I could get more 'organic' traffic to save money on Google Adwords.

I don't know now exactly how I came across Sitesell and SBI . I'm surprised I'd never heard of it before. I'm so glad I found it, the concept is very simple, but very exciting.

I try to describe Sitesell to people. It's web hosting, no it's more than that. It's a software package to help you create pages which will get a good search engine ranking, no, more than that. There's a forum where people give and receive advice, information and encouragement. Yes. It's an affiliate, yes that too. It's a way of making the site make money, SBI calls it the monetizing process.

Well it's all those things, but it's a whole concept which takes a sideways step and makes building a successful, profitable website possible, feasible and entirely do-able.

The idea is really so simple, but brilliant! It's no 'get rich quick' idea. It's very very real. Don't take my word for it, take the tour. You've seen the result, and if you keep coming back you'll see more and more.

I'm about to start work on my next site, not about bees this time. I have to hurry, although it's late in the bee season I'm still getting bee calls and I know it'll only be another two months before the next bee season begins to start buzzing into the picture.

My purpose has changed! I'm working towards making my Sitesell websites produce enough income so I can change beekeeping back to being a hobby. I want a job which I can do entirely from home, wherever that may be. No more 9 to 5 for me, and I'm loving it.

One of the many ways to make your site pay is through affiliate programs. If you have, or intend to develop a website which offers goods or services for sale you should consider offering an affiliate program.

You provide a link which promotes your product, the website owner posts that link on their website. When their visitors see and click on your link they are directed to your site. If they buy your product, you pay a commission to the affiliate, the website owner who posted your link. iDevAffiate offers a number of software solutions which track the whole affiliate process.

If you'd like to know more about SBI and Sitesell you can contact them directly, either by email of telephone and someone will be glad to answer any questions you have, there's no obligation.
