Trying to Trap Bee Out of a Tree
by: Anonymous

I first baited my hive box with comb and brood. I also setup a one way trap out. They found another way in.

I have now sealed that, but they have not figured out where the old trap out was. Lots of bees are trying to return (get back in) yet none getting out.

I guess now I either set up another trap out or move the old one to the area in which they are now gathering. Problem is I don't have any brood or honey to entice them.

Any ideas?

[Hi

I have experienced this situation when the bees stop coming out of the 'escape'. Trapping bees out of a tree is one of the more challenging locations. I would take the trap off and check whether the exit has become blocked, perhaps with dead bees.

A large element of patience is required for a trap out, good luck!

No wisdom in that!
by: Anonymous

Why would anyone try to remove a bee hive from a tree, kill them out, or cut down the tree?

Maybe because they are too ignorant, lazy or paranoid to teach their children to stay away from the bees !!!!!

This is typical of todays parents or people that walk this earth...just teach the kids... period... besides, people can get very close to bee hives anyways.. especially in trees... the bees are very secure there... just go stand near one yourself, and see.

I mean come on people... have people gotten so ignorant of our natural world, so far from wisdom that we kill out bee hives from trees because of the "precious" children that are around??? My gosh, how will these kids be able to adapt to anything with silly little parents like this??Teaching them nothing, by the way, you are not going to get those bees out of there anyways. Period!

How about a Vacuum?
by: Anonymous

Just a thought, if you don't want to kill them, and you can't take too much time on the trap-out, maybe taking as many as possible on a evening vac out. Then you can foam fill the hive, killing minimal bees, but leaving honey, comb and queen.

You then could maybe save the rest with some comb and a new Queen. Can't tell what the trapped honey will attract or do too the tree.

JMHO - J

[I'm not sure that this will achieve much, the vacuumed bees are going to be almost all foragers. Unless the entrance is very large it's not likely you'll even get many bees.
