Beehave Yourself!

Bee Hiding Head in Embarrassment.
I was in the plant business in South Florida for many years. I frequently shopped at other nurseries to find unique items I could resell (in addition to what I grew). Over the years other growers became friends.
One summer while in the typical Florida uniform of shorts and t-shirt, I was digging through plants at a family nursery when I was stung. Not on my face, arm or leg ... but on my tummy! Painful! I screamed and my friends son came running.
Well, here's the thing I had on bikini panties and the bee went up the open leg of my shorts. Meantime, I had pulled down my shorts to see what had bitten me and be sure it was gone.
Doug was a young man, barefoot and tan and he knew his stuff when it came to things in nature. He quickly went and got a papaya leaf, crushed it with his hand and told me to place it on the sting. It worked. What relief!
At the time I was not concerned in the least that I had somewhat exposed myself. However, over the years, it seems everyone heard about my bee experience. It was one of Doug's favorite stories!
