Honey Bee CamThis is a live bee cam that views a bee colony which is building combs on someone's pergola. I was told there was a swarm of bees which needed to be collected. The gardener had only noticed it a few days earlier.I went to take a look and at first thought this was a large swarm, unusual even in San Diego for this time of year. On closer inspection I realized that these bees had decided they weren't going anywhere. I think they had been there for a good deal longer than a few days, probably a matter of 3 or 4 weeks, and were well on the way to establishing their colony in what is quite an exposed location.
As you can see the bee camera is currently showing one of our humming bird feeders. For technical reasons it's not possible to show the bees at the moment. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible. In the meantime please enjoy viewing our humming birds. If the image does not appear, try refreshing the page. If that doesn't work please copy the URL, restart your browser and paste the URL into the address box. If you still have trouble send us a message so we can investigate the problem. Please go here to leave comments about our live cam or anything else bee related. We love to hear from our site visitors. The webcam is a Logitech C902, this is an indoor camera which is mounted in a specially made 'bird-box' near the neighbor's fence. It obviously only shows the bees during daylight hours, so if you only see a black screen you might check what the time is in California. Thanks to Peter Skuse at Web Video for Dummies for all his help with this nature camera. Bees shouldn't do this! This is not a good place for them, even if no one interferes with them. Do you have a bee story to share? They might have trouble surviving the winter, such as it is in San Diego. The thing is, these bees haven't read the same books, they don't know they're not supposed to do this. Right-click on the image from the bee cam, you can display it full screen. If you have trouble viewing the image, try deleting the browser cache. Press the Escape key to return to normal size image. It should work in most browsers if it doesn't, please let me know.
